Three of the largest dogs in the world

Animals bring joy to our live and all of us admired a cute puppy playing with a toy. However, not all dogs are small and cute. There are some breeds that can reach weights of more than 70 kg, not to mention their height. These are some of the largest dogs in the world:

  1. The tallest dog in the world is considered to be the Great Dane. It first appeared in Germany and it can reach up to 2 m high at the shoulder. Unfortunately, their huge body also makes them vulnerable to diseases and they have a very short life span. The world record holder for the largest dog belonged to a Great Dane named Zeus.
  2. The Neapolitan Mastiff comes from Italy and it is one of the heaviest dogs. They can weigh 70 kg and they are ideal for protection and company. Despite their scary stature, they can be very gentle with children and other animals and they will live a happy life outdoors. You wouldn’t want to share your couch with a dog this big!
  3. The Scottish Deerhound is a dog who first appeared in Scotland, and its slim body makes it ideal for hunting and racing. Hunters used to breed these dogs for their speed and stamina. Nowadays, hunting with dogs is illegal in most of the countries, so this dog became the perfect pet. With a friendly personality and a fluffy coat, they compete in dog shows and racing competitions. If you want a pet that is special, you can bring this one to join your family but, as nice as they might be, these huge dogs still need plenty of space to run and play and it’s difficult to keep them in the house.
